Most of the time, if you want to lose 10 pounds quick, you have to go out and buy something special to do it. Whether it be some sort of workout equipment or special foods from a far away health food store. I am going to tell you how you can lose 10 pounds quick starting right now, with what you have or what you can easily get from your local grocery store.
1) "White" is not right. For your belly-busting diet, you have to avoid white foods. This includes bread, rice, pasta and potatoes.
For bread, it is not enough to buy white bread that has essentially been dyed to look brown. You have to read the label and make sure it says "whole grain". Otherwise, you are not doing yourself any favors.
For the rice, I like Uncle Ben's Whole Grain brown rice that comes ready-to-microwave in a plastic bag. 90 seconds and your wholesome rice is ready! I also saw it listed as a Top 100 Healthy Convenience foods in the grocery store.
With pasta, if you can't eat whole grain because it looks too brown, they now make whole grain that looks like regular pasta. It's called Ronzoni Smart Taste and it gets by my very picky 13 year old nephew without him knowing the difference.
For your potato, choose the sweet potato or if you have to have white, at least choose the organic wedges in the frozen section. The brand is Cascadian Farms and I have them about twice a month for my "white potato fix".
2) Get moving while watching Oprah. More people than ever are spending more than three hours in front of the television each day. I implemented exercise as the price I had to pay to watch TV and the pounds started to come off faster.
Remember I said you can start with what you have? Next time you want to watch television, grab two cans of vegetables and get to doing some bicep curls, arm lifts, etc. Stop worrying so much about if you are doing it right or not and just move. Studies have shown that even fidgeting will burn calories so really, you can't do it wrong. Dance, march in place, stretch, and hold your legs in the air and lower them to the floor.
You can even use the furniture you have to help you. Do pushups on your ottoman, and grab a chair to use as a ballet bar. Be creative and have fun!
3) Stop drinking all of your calories! You can give up soda, sweet tea, and sugary fruit juice drinks. I know for some people this seems impossible, and it's definitely not easy, but I did it, my sister did it, and so can you.
Find a replacement that you can turn to. If it's sugar-free gum, or a Weight Watchers dessert, you are going to need a sweet fix for about the first two weeks. You'll find you don't need it as much or as often the longer you go without soda.
Water is your friend. The one investment I am going to ask you to make is a really nice water bottle. Think of it as an accessory that you have with you all the time. I also bought a Brita water filter pitcher for $12 because I didn't like the chemical taste of the water from my tap. It works and now I drink water and decaf, unsweet tea exclusively.
If you follow the three suggestions above, you will lose 10 pounds quick and be well on to losing your next 10 pounds too! Good luck!
