<p>Coming out of the old year 2011, and heading into the new year 2012, some if not most of us will be thinking of the best way to lose fat. Given the amount of food we must have eaten over the end of year break, it&rsquo;s always a time when new year resolutions tend to focus on losing the pounds of unwanted fat, we unknowingly (or in some cases knowingly!) piled on to our waists and body parts.</p>
<p>Is there really a best way to lose fat? We don&rsquo;t think there is one best way to lose fat which will work across the board for anyone regardless of body type, age and lifestyle. But there can be many ways which can come close. Often the key in finding the best way to lose fat often comes down to your attitude.</p>
<p>The question then becomes is there a best way to lose fat for you? The answer is of course yes but it&rsquo;s not going to be easy. To work out the best way to lose fat for you, there are many factors you will need to take into account. Some we have covered above &ndash; gender, age, body type, lifestyle, genes, net worth, health and so many others which I cannot think of right now.</p>
<p>However, there are also ways which will bring good results to anyone regardless of those factors. The thing to remember is that, the results you will get if you do only the minimum, without looking deeply into your own individual situation, will vary widely from one person to the next.</p>

<p>Similarly, those of us without good genes really need to do more work to get the same results as those who have good genes.</p>

You like weight training &ndash; try that instead and mix it up with exercises utilising your body weight.</p>
<p>Trying new exercises, new habits, new ways of doing things is not only fun. Over time, it will bring you closer (and in some cases faster) to your weight loss goals. &nbsp;Taking this approach towards your training will help you know what kind of exercises will work or will not work for you, so you can plan your training better.</p>

<p>Losing Fat Gaining Muscle has got to be one of the easiest topic to write about when it comes to losing weight and losing fat. Sorry let me rephrase that, when it comes to &ldquo;losing weight fast&rdquo; and &ldquo;losing fat fast&rdquo;.</p>
<p>The reason is that these two things normally go hand in hand. Surprise? I bet some if not most of you, are surprised but I really kid you not. In fact, I am deadly serious. Losing fat gaining muscle is one of the best, if not the best way of achieving your fat loss goals.</p>
<p>In the good old days, muscle building was considered bad for sports performance mainly because our knowledge of muscles in physiology was not properly understood back then.</p>
<p>It was not until a decade or two ago, that through research and advancement in sports development, we came to know that muscles can greatly enhance sports performance for short intensive events such as gymnastics, 100m or 200m races.</p>

<p>It is now widely known that having more and bigger muscle fibres in your body, will lead to two things :&ndash;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>(1) Your Internal Metabolism will be Maintained or Raised.</strong></span></p>
<p>This means that your body will be burning excess energy faster than someone with less muscle fibres. Even when you are resting (i.e. &ndash; during rest days when you are not training), your body will still continue to burn excess energy and fat. This effect happens a lot to body builders.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>(2) You will Burn your Extra Fat much Faster.</strong></span></p>
<p>This is mainly caused by the raising of your metabolic rate. Having none or less muscles does not mean that you won&rsquo;t be able to lose fat, you will still be able to lose fat, it just that it won&rsquo;t be as fast as when you do have muscles.</p>
<p><strong>So What Does This Mean?</strong></p>
<p>Losing fat gaining muscle means that you should incorporate muscle building routines into your fat loss program. One way of doing that is to join a gym to do strength or weight training or do resistance exercises such as squats, push-ups, pull-ups which utilises your body weights.</p>
<p>This does not mean that you should ignore your cardiovascular training. By all means continue to do cardio exercises as well, but don&rsquo;t do too much cardiovascular exercises. Do more strength and resistance based exercises instead.</p>

<p>Note also that the exact opposite will occur when you starve yourself. Your metabolic rate will then slowed down to conserve energy meaning that you will not be able to burn more fat or burn a lot of fat.</p>

<p>In my last post some time ago in Sept 2011, I told you about my fasting and how I managed to lose about 5-6kgs simply by going on a vegetables and fruits fast. I become so fascinated by this that I have tested a way to do intermittent fasting to lose weight. This is what I believe would happen based on my testing and based on my experiences. Unfortunately I cannot lose too many pounds of fat, as I haven&rsquo;t got much to lose but you can pick out the important information from my post.</p>
<p>I have heard of other people advocating intermittent fasting to lose weight but I haven&rsquo;t really tried it out for myself to see if it gets me anywhere or if it&rsquo;s effective for people to know, until now. For those of you who are in the Weight Loss industry, the idea seems sound in theory, even if it takes more will power and discipline to carry out. But does it really work? I was dead keen on finding so I tried intermittent fasting to lose weight.</p>

<p>In reality, intermittent fasting to lose weight, works very very effectively as long as you stick to the basics. For me, I didn&rsquo;t go as far as not eating anything because I was worried about my metabolism slowing down and during the times I was fasting &ndash; we had a lot going in our lives (both at home and at work), so I stick to eating only fruits, vegetables and some nuts (remember nuts have essential oils but they are full of fat).</p>
<p>For each fasting, which lasted a period of about 6 to 7 days, I lost about 4-5 pounds every time. In between the fasting, I gave myself a maximum of 1 day to eat anything I like, which included meat, fish, ice cream and so forth. Because I don&rsquo;t want to lose too much weight, I only did the intermittent fasting 3 times. In total, I lost about 12 pounds. That means I must have gained back about 3 pounds in between the fasting and I attribute that to my eating during the time when I came off the fast.</p>
<p>My intermittent fasting to lose weight does seem a little too short to get anything conclusive or concrete out of it, but there are some gems in my findings and no doubt, I will keep experimenting on myself, or find someone else to experiment on, during this year 2012. By the way &ndash; all the best for the new year, I will write something about that soon.</p>

<p>This topic &lsquo;does fasting lose weight&rsquo; will be researched further over the next few weeks as we go because I have been fascinated by the huge amount of information available out there, on this topic. In theory, the whole reason why fasting does not appear to be a good for losing fat or losing weight is because it reduces your body&rsquo;s internal metabolism hence causing you to lose less fat.</p>
<p>While there are advantages to fasting including the cleansing of toxins and other unwanted agents (for lack of a better word, maybe I should just use &ldquo;filth&rdquo;) from your body, I was particularly interested in fasting as a way of losing weight.</p>

<p>These are my own findings so take it with a grain of salt because every person is different. Need I not remind you that whatever may work for me, may not necessarily work for you. In saying that, I wouldn&rsquo;t hesitate to recommend people to try it themselves, even if it&rsquo;s just for a few days.</p>
<p>Please note that any fasting including water only fasting, should never be attempted without the advice of your doctor. The question which intrigued me is &ndash; does fasting lose weight and if so, how much should we expect to lose?</p>
<p>Before I fasted, I conditioned myself for a few days at a time to live only on fruits and vegetables and some nuts, just to get the feel of it.</p>
<p>The reason is that I wouldn&rsquo;t want to go straight into water fasting without having tried fruits and veges only fasting as it may not be the best thing to do. I also needed to trick my body to think that everything is still okay, I am still eating food, hence my metabolism should not decrease significantly.</p>
<p>I have been on vegetables and fruits only fasting for about 4 weeks and already I have lost about several at least 5 kilograms, just by changing my diet. If I keep this going for the next few months, I would probably be losing more but I will see.</p>
<p>At the end of my fasting (I have given myself until the end of September 2011), I will share more of my experiences with you. Does fasting lose weight? I&rsquo;m willing to bet it does but thanks for taking the time to visit. See you soon.</p>

<p>I can&rsquo;t help feeling amazed at the misconceptions most people have about the value of walking programs for weight loss. Walking is effective as an exercise to help burn off fat or unwanted weight.</p>
<p>I am forced to accept that it&rsquo;s either :-</p>
<p>(1) they are not really accepting what they have been reading (i.e. not paying enough attention) or</p>
<p>(2) they just cannot conceive the idea nor the belief that walking can help you lose weight.</p>
<p>In this article let us attempt to talk about the most important things that anyone can incorporate into their walking routines, in order to get the best possible outcomes. Walking programs for weight loss is no different to any other.</p>
<p>Our possible outcomes are (1) maximum fat loss &nbsp;(2) increased fitness&nbsp;(3) maximum muscle toned. To be fair and not to make it too hard for ourselves, lets leave out number (3) for another time and we&rsquo;ll aim for only (1) &amp; (2). You can find many walking programs for weight loss on the internet, or you can make one up yourself &ndash; go on try it &nbsp;- it&rsquo;s fun.</p>

<p>The first to remember is that a &ldquo;walk in the park&rdquo; for leisure if unlikely to give you much value regardless of your fitness level. It also all depends on your current level of fitness. For example, if you are already at a decent level of fitness, it is unlikely you are going to gain much from a stroll in the park.</p>
<p>That said, if you are very unfit and that you have been a couch potato (excuse the expression), then a regular stroll in the park would do you wonders.</p>
<p>The second thing to remember and accept, is that walking on its own will not give you the desired results. You will still need to stop stuffing yourself with too much food, especially the wrong kinds of foods that are full of sugars. You will still need to keep other good habits necessary for health like sleeping at least 8 hours a sleep (or getting a decent amount of sleep as it varies between people). Burning the midnight oil and doing 1 to 3 hours of sleep a night, will do help your walking program for weight loss.</p>
<p>It is very easy to design your own walking to lose weight program. But here are the guidelines to help you come up with a plan that works for you and your lifestyle.</p>
<p>(1) Decide how often you need to walk. At least 3 &ndash; 4 times a week is best otherwise walk every day.</p>
<p>(2) Decide on the best time for you to walk. We recommend walking first thing in the morning and get it out of the way. If not &ndash; walk when you are free &ndash; it doesn&rsquo;t matter when you walk as long as you walk.</p>
<p>(3) Decide how long you want to do your walking programs for weight loss. Initially you should aim at 30 to 40mins of brisk walking or not more than 1 hour. Remember it is better to do it consistently than to do it with a bang on your first week, only to fizzle out after that first week.</p>
<p>(4) Always allow time for warming up and cooling down.</p>
<p>(5) Always increase the intensity of your walking but do so gradually. For example, this week I will walk for 30 mins at my normal pace. Next week, I will walk for 40mins at my normal pace&hellip;etc.</p>

<p>Losing weight walking is one training exercise that no one wants to adopt, because they cannot see it working or because it is not considered to be physical or intense enough.</p>
<p>But sometimes, when your physical condition is not at the state where you can run or do more physical intensive exercises, your choices are pretty limited to low intensity training like walking or light swimming.</p>
<p>Walking is not the end of the world and you might be pleasantly surprised to know that even a training programme which incorporates walking will do wonders for your physical condition and fitness goals.</p>

<p>One way of getting used to losing weight walking is &hellip;.. to simply just walk more. &nbsp;Learn to use the car less and learn to walk anywhere within 10 or 20 minutes distance without using the car or other forms of public transport. Eventually the habit of walking everywhere and anywhere you want to go to, becomes second nature.</p>
<p>Losing weight walking up and down stair cases, walking uphill and downhill, walking on the beach with your loved one, walking around the block of your home, are some great ways to lose weight.</p>
<p>In the beginning, it can be very difficult to get started but once you begin you will find that it is not really that difficult to keep going. Eventually as your fitness starts to pick up, you can then start to walk more briskly or even get into light running or light jogging.</p>
<p>Losing weight walking is important for many reasons. One reason is that it improves your general fitness level allowing your body to become adapted to the stresses being placing on it. This is especially true if you have been a coach potato all these years. The other appealing side effects is that it achieves muscle tone as well as increasing your body&rsquo;s metabolic rate. This is the rate that your body will burn excess energy and fat.</p>

<p>One of the reasons why we decide to grow our passion for Health and Fitness is because we hate seeing people with bellies and waists that are bigger and more rounder than their upper and lower bodies. It&rsquo;s our mission to start getting rid of belly fat and make the world a more healthier place.</p>
<p>Ooops&hellip; let me rephrase that as hate is too strong a word, in fact I don&rsquo;t hate obese people, I actually like them even if I sometimes feel sorry for them.</p>
<p>Chances are you probably know people within your friends, families and inner circle, who puts on more fat than the rest of us. Most of that fat will end up accumulating around the belly and hip areas, like the picture below shows.&nbsp;Getting rid of belly fat is not difficult.</p>

<p>It is not really their fault if we think about it seriously. Okay so most of it is their fault, but still, there are those who are cursed (or blessed depending on how you see it <img src="http://www.Fatloss2u.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" class="wp-smiley"> ) with bad genes that every time they eat a piece of chocolate cake, they add on a few extra pounds of fat.</p>
<p>In direct contrast to my dislike for obese people with big fat tummies, I really admire people (especially women I won&rsquo;t lie to you) who are well built, well toned and well proportioned from head to toe. I&rsquo;m sure a lot of women would also say the same thing about us men!</p>
<p>The midsection, stomach, waist and hip are some of the body parts that attracts the most attention especially from the opposite gender, when they are developed properly.&nbsp;I said &lsquo;developed properly&rsquo; because if you don&rsquo;t know what you are doing you can still end up with more muscles in those areas and that is also not the outcome we are after.</p>
<p>Not all of us likes well-developed six pack of abdominals on our girlfriends or our partners&rsquo; bodies. Fortunately for those who needs to lose belly fat, putting on more muscles is the least of their worries.</p>
<p>Getting rid of belly fat is not as difficult as most of you tend to think. Over the next few days if not weeks, we will discuss this topic at length because the waist and hip areas are one of the worst areas to trim down. They are also one of the most boring body parts to train &ndash; people don&rsquo;t really like training their overweight tummies.</p>
